UPCOMING! The Beards at Divan Orange

UPCOMING! The Beards at Divan Orange  | Thursday October 24th

Is it just me, or does it seem like people from down under are pretty good at mixing inspired music and quality comedy? A few years back, New-Zealand duo Flight of the Conchords became incredibly popular, to the point of acquiring a cult fan base, thanks to their witty comedic songs that covered an impressive range of aesthetics. If Bret and Jemaine were widely known for their HBO show, they were also much appreciated for their theatrical, highly impressive live performances. Most people have seen them on YouTube, using their astonishing guitar skills to sing their jokes-filled pieces. And that’s the thing: these two buffoons are undeniably a pair of funny guys, but they’re a pair of funny guys who can play the guitar like nobody’s business. Jokers, yes, but also musicians.

Much the same can be said about Australian act The Beards. Like their Kiwi counterparts, these guys chose comedy as the central element of their musical endeavour. Can you guess what their main concept is?

Indeed. They sing exclusively about beards.

With songs such as If Your Dad Doesn’t Have a Beard, You’ve Got Two Mums, or You Should Consider Having Sex with a Bearded Man, these joyful (and skilful) musicians promote facial air in grand fashion. They too acquired a cult fan base in their hometown of Adelaide, enough to start making international headlines.

And enough to be coming to Montreal. October 24th. Divan Orange. You don’t want to miss that, we assure you.
