UPCOMING! Father John Misty at Corona Theatre

UPCOMING! Father John Misty at Corona Theatre  | Wednesday October 16th

Joshua Tillman is, at once, a very talented musician and an arrogant bastard. His silky smooth voice, his tongue-in-cheek tone, and his enthusiastic dancing make him one hell of a performer, not to mention the catchiness of his melodies and the depth of his lyrics. But these skills come with an attitude. Father John Misty is somewhat of an I-Don’t-Give-A-F***er. In other words, even if his sly smile is hidden under his heavy beard, its presence is nevertheless very obvious.

I guess the man has reasons to feel confident. After all, he plays with an indie heavyweight, Fleet Foxes, and has recorded eight very good full-length studio albums. The last one, Fear Fun, which was released by Sub Pop, is the first one that he put out under his new Father John Misty alias. It’s worth your beer money.

If you caught his show at this year’s Osheaga, you know that he can deliver the goods when playing live, too. Along with three guitars, he performed a memorable set and cracked several jokes that got the audience giggling. He even suggested Quebec invades Ohio.
And he's coming to town! He recruited Kate Berlant to open for him at his upcoming show at Montreal’s very own Corona Theatre. If you have never seen this man perform live, you should definitely consider going.
