UPCOMING! Gregory Alan Isakov at Petit Campus

UPCOMING! Gregory Alan Isakov at Petit Campus | Monday July 22nd

Johannesburg-born and Denver-based Gregory Alan Isakov plays the kind of 70s-style folk that feels like a comforting sip of hot tea, or like a heavy blanket thrown on your shoulders on a cold night, or like the velvety warmth that seems to permeate the palm of your hands when you hold them out in front of a campfire. He picks the strings of his acoustic guitar with a poetic subtlety, surrounded by soft voices of all ranges with which his own sings astonishing harmonies. A violin and a piano sometimes punctuate that otherwise mainly guitar-centered package, which serves as a wonderful atmosphere for this man’s main deal: song writing.

If you doubt that statement is true, take a look at his wonderfully put-together website. On it, he opted to offer the lyrics of every single one of his pieces. You will see why this man has been described as “strong, subtle, a lyrical genius”.

The answer to your probable inquiry about when and where you can see a live performance by this amazing musical poet goes as follow: at Petit Campus, on June 14th. Fans of the likes of Leif Vollebek, or Devendra Banhart should not miss it.

Oh, and take a look at that beauty of a video. Just do. You shan't regret it.
